Morpeth, is a market town and is situated some 20 minutes north of Newcastle and has been the home of Morpeth Pipe Band since its inception in 1913.
Now a popular visitor attraction, Morpeth hosts many annual events including the Northumbrian Gathering and Morpeth Fair Day.
Morpeth also hosts the only museum dedicated to the history of the bagpipe; from the Northumbrian pipes of Catherine Tickell through to the Great Highland Bagpipe synonymous with blockbuster films such as Robert the Bruce.
